In prior work, researchers have explored regulating nanomaterials, such as plumb aligned multi-walled CO nanotubes (VA-MWNTs), to make improved glue tapes.  Although VA-MWNTs are stronger than required tapes during both high and low temperatures, a materials are comparatively thick, and vast amounts can’t be done cost-effectively.

Kai Liu, Xide Li, Wenhui Duan, Kaili Jiang and coworkers wondered if they could rise a new form of fasten stoical of superaligned CO nanotube (SACNT) films. As their name suggests, SACNTs are nanotubes that are precisely aligned together to any other, able of combining ultrathin though clever yarns or films.

To make their tape, a researchers pulled a film from a interior of an array of SACNTs –– identical to pulling a frame of fasten from a roll.
