The RokBlok is a portable wireless record player that drives around vinyl surface in circles, with a needle on the bottom. The bamboo-bodied device is placed on a vinyl’s, that lies on a smooth flat surface. Its soft rubber wheels will propel it around, that can be set to either 33 or 45 rpm, while its pivoting needle follows the grooves. The wheels don’t harm records’ vinyl surfaces.
Music is played through the integrated speakers, although the sound is going to be getting projected in ever-tightening circles. The device can also be wirelessly paired with a stationary third-party Bluetooth speaker for better audio quality. The player is turned off by waving a hand over the top to flip the lever back down. Battery runs out of juice after four hours of playback time, that can be fully charged in two hours.
The player is the subject of a Kickstarter campaign, that already reached its funding four times with 25 days remaining. It can be seen and heard in action, in the video below.
